Dewanna 'Chick' Schexnayder
April 21, 1967 – June 26, 2025
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Dewanna 'Chick' Schexnayder, 58, of
Crowley who passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at her residence surrounded by
family and friends.
Chick was a lifelong resident of Crowley. She enjoyed cooking for her family and
friends. Baking sweets for the holidays, especially Peanut Butter Cookies and Peanut
Butter Balls.
Though Chick loved her life, her favorite role was being a grandparent. She treasured
her time with her two grandkids and loved being their MeMaw, never failing to make
them the center of her world.
She leaves behind her two children: Her daughter Heather Schexnayder and spouse
Gaston Myers. Her son Adam Schexnayder and husband Vladimir Sepulvado.
Grandchildren; Hunter and Evelyn Myers. Siblings: Dolores Figard, Katherine 'Kat'
Ashworth, Michael 'Mike' Trahan wife Suzette, Andrea Dies, Ricky Trahan wife Emily,
Kay Fontenot, Andy Perrodin, Raydenna Sonnier and Raydella 'T-Boo' Windham
husband Dexter. A host of nieces and nephews, godchildren, beloved cousin Radonna,
dearest friends Debra and Deanna, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Maeus Trahan and Amae Gaspard, Stepfather
William 'Pop' Duhon, Lydia Dell Trahan Perry and sister Jacqueline 'Jackie' Stafford.
The Schexnayder family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers
at Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana, Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana –
Radiation Oncology, Leading Home Care - Crowley and Amedisys Hospice Care for
their outstanding care and kindness.
