Dimmon Mackone Payne Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on July 12, 1944, to Dimmon Mackone Payne Sr. and Betty Irene Scott, he lived a life of faith, service, and adventure, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Dimmon grew up in Ogden, Utah, where he graduated from Ogden High School. He lived most of his life in Ogden but also spent meaningful chapters in Idaho and California.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dimmon served faithfully in many callings, including bishop and high councilor. He and his cherished wife, Sandra Marie Shulz, together served five missions that took them across the globe: Temple Square in Salt Lake City; Mongolia; the Navajo Nation; the London, England Temple; and Mililani, Hawaii. Their shared dedication to spreading the gospel and serving others inspired countless lives.

Dimmon was a dynamic businessman, pursuing a variety of ventures with skill and determination. He successfully owned and managed businesses that ranged from a barbershop and a clothing store to a fast-food restaurant. He also managed a tire shop and a copy machine sales office, and worked as a real estate broker, showcasing his adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit.

A true cowboy at heart, Dimmon loved everything related to the Old West. He delighted in collecting cowboy memorabilia, including boots, hats, saddles, lariats, pistols, and gun belts. His passion extended to watching classic Westerns and living the outdoor life he so admired. Whether camping, backpacking, or relaxing at the family cabin, Dimmon found joy and peace in nature. He also loved sports, especially basketball and golf, which he played with enthusiasm throughout his life.

Dimmon is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra; his children, Leisa Faler (Rob), Jennifer Burton, (Kevin), Melissa Cochran (Kurt), Clint Payne (Shera), Michael Payne, Angela Stoll (Doug), and Sara Payne; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Scott Payne (Alison), Mark Payne (Lori), John Payne (Jodi), Nancy Cawley (David), and Debbie Webb (Bruce). He was preceded in death by his parents, Dimmon Sr. and Betty.

Dimmon’s life was a testament to hard work, faith, and family. His unwavering love, kindness, and dedication to those he served will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant View LDS Chapel, 250 West Elberta Drive. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 11 a.m.to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
