Donald William Rockwell

It is with both heavy hearts and joyful memories that we announce the passing of Donald William Rockwell, who left this world on April 15, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on May 11, 1938, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late William Rockwell and Edna Lutjen Rockwell, Donald cultivated a good life filled with passion, joy, and remarkable achievements, making a lasting impact in the world of journalism and beyond.
A dedicated journalist with a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, Donald made his mark in broadcasting, where he passionately served the KITV4 community in Honolulu, Hawaii, for over 30 years. He brought stories to life with a warm heart and a keen eye, always striving to inform and engage his audience. His love for storytelling was only rivaled by his love for the games he cherished; as a devoted fan of the New York Giants (back when they were still called, SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS. Once they moved back to New York, he decided he will only cheer for THE BRAVES) and the San Francisco 49ers, Donald embraced the spirit of competition, whether on the field or in the studio.
Donald grew up in a small family, facing adversity early on when he lost his father. Nevertheless, he carried the values instilled in him by his family throughout his life, embodying resilience and warmth. Those who knew him will remember his quick wit, his heartfelt conversations, and above all, his adoration for the delicate hummingbirds that graced his garden-a true testament to the beauty of life he appreciated so deeply.
A visitation will be held in his honor at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel on April 19, 2025, at 4:00 PM. We invite family, friends, and all whose lives he touched to come together and celebrate the remarkable journey of Donald Rockwell.
