Donna was born on January 29, 1939, in the small town of Stockdale, Ohio, and departed this life at the age of 83 on August 15, 2022, in Columbus. She was the first born of Carl and Yvonne Brewer (Adams). Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, David Owen Brewer and Martin F. Donely, she is survived by her husband of 61 years Garry A. Cornell, Sr; son Garry A. Cornell, II; daughter Christina Hartigan (Drew); grandchildren Garry A. Cornell, Ill; Naninna Cornell; Ashley Cornell; Lindsay Cornell-Ross (Keith); Leah Hartigan-Allen (Kyle); Kiley, Jamie, and Jacquelin Hartigan; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great­grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Donna graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1957 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Capital University, Bexley, class of 1961, with joint majors in music and Spanish. Teaching was her passion. Her early years of teaching were at Hartley High School and Six-Pence School, Columbus. For the remainder of her career she taught Spanish and English in the Columbus Public Schools, retiring in 2006 from Northland High School.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Bexley, where she was a choir member for many years and often served in worship as lay reader. She was an avid reader all her life as well as an expert gardener. A memorial and celebration of Donna's life is being planned and will be announced at a later time.
