Dorthy Jane Love Cook, a vibrant soul, passed away at the age of 89 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a resident of NHC Nursing Home. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and strength.
Jane was born in Meridian, Mississippi, and grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School and later graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. She worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Human Resource Officer until her retirement in 1994.
Jane was always willing to lend a listening ear to family and friends. For many years, she volunteered at Methodist Medical Center, working with families whose loved ones were having surgeries that day.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved working with the youth of the church. She frequently went on youth retreats with the girls she served. Her favorite hymn was Amazing Grace.
Her family will certainly be affected by her passing, but we are grateful for the knowledge that she is free from pain and that we will see her again.
She is survived by her daughter, Lauren Blocher, and her son-in-law, Victor Blocher. She is also survived by her grandsons, Victor, Brian, and Adam Blocher. Her grandson, Brett Blocher, previously passed away in October 2021
She has 7 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother William Gary Love of Athens GA, and her sister Mary lou Love Cooper of Santa Fe, New Mexico
The family wishes to thank the amazing staff at NHC, as well as the Hospice care that she received. Jane always received the utmost care throughout her stay.
A private ceremony was held on Thursday, August 7th.
