NORTH ATTLEBORO – Dorothy Ann Ouimet, a longtime resident of High Street in North Attleboro passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home at age 94. She was the beloved wife of the late Bertrand Ouimet for 62 years before his death in 2012.
Born July 19, 1924 in Wareham, she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Martina (Gallerani) Driscoll.
Dorothy was educated in the Attleboro School system and was a 1942 graduate of Attleboro High School. She went on to graduate with a degree in Business Administration from the former Charles School in Cambridge.
Mrs. Ouimet had worked as Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Law School. After her marriage, she and her husband owned and operated Ouimet's Market and Package Store in North Attleboro until retiring in 1986.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro. She enjoyed gardening, politics and working with the elderly. In 1976 Dorothy was appointed to the North Attleboro Housing Authority as State Appointee by Governor Sargent and was a Board member of the housing authority for 20 years. Mrs. Ouimet was also a charter member of the North Attleboro Council on Aging Board where she served for 20 years.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Thomas Maguire, Timothy O'Neill, Terence O'Neill and Sally Fisher. She was sister of the late Marguerite Maguire, Elizabeth Fisher and Ann O'Neill and aunt of the late Susan Fisher.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Wednesday, September 5 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Foundation, PO BOX 2963, Attleboro, MA 02703.
