Edmund P. "Ed" Burke, age 86, U.S. Army veteran, a lifelong resident of Chicago, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Meadowbrook Manor of Bolingbrook, IL. He was born on May 8, 1939, in Evergreen Park, IL.
Beloved son of the late Edmund and Mildred (nee Hanifin) Burke, former spouse of Sue Burke of Lisle, IL, dear brother of the late Maureen (the late John "Jack") Mangan, adored uncle of Sheila (Tom) Edwards, John (fiancée, Karol Daniela Olguin) Mangan, Patrick (Stephanie) Mangan, Michael (Katie Doheny) Mangan and Christopher (Michelle) Mangan, fond great-uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Ed grew up on Chicago's South Side where he attended Saint Sabina Grade School and Saint Ignatius High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed a long career of over 30 years as head of security for the Chicago Title & Trust Building in downtown Chicago.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, 10:00-11:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Kingston & Front Streets, Lisle, IL 60532.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Monday, 11:00 AM in the church with Rev. James Radek officiating.
Interment: Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
In lieu of flowers or contributions, the family requests memorial contributions be made to support the General Service Office of Alcoholics Anonymous or the local AA Central Office/Intergroup.
