Our beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Edward “Eddie” Felix DeLeon, also known as “Eddie Bull”, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, surrounded by his loving family. Age 62 years. He was born May 25, 1961, son of Consuelo (Teneyuque) and the late Reymundo DeLeon. Eddie was a lifelong resident of Saginaw where he attended Saginaw High School. He joined the Army National Guard in 1981 to serve his country which took him to places like New England, Germany, and more. In everything that he did, he was hardworking, dedicated, and passionate. Some of those passions included taking care of his yard, which had to be just right, golfing, and his favorite of them all playing softball. He loved listening to Tejano music while getting things done around the house. He was known for his love of spicy foods, especially his signature homemade chilé. You couldn’t find a jalapeño hot enough for Eddie. But nothing compared to when his mom would cook and call him and say, “come and eat mijo.” He was a fierce protector and lover of his family and was always just a phone call away. Eddie loved to spend time with all of his grandchildren, including a special grandson, Jordan who he raised as his own. He enjoyed having movie nights watching the latest releases, listening to Christian music, and worshiping the Lord. He was a big fan of anything maize and blue as he was an avid University of Michigan Wolverine fan.
Eddie leaves memories of him to cherish with his loving wife of 28 years, Grace (Mata) DeLeon; his mother, Consuelo DeLeon (who he lovingly called Jefita); his children, Edward Garza and Angie Stoddard, Savanna DeLeon and Carlderris Gordon, Santino DeLeon, Arianna DeLeon, Edward F. DeLeon Jr., Ramon and Rachel Barrera, Robert and Sherry Barrera, Michael Angelo Barrera, and Edward Rodriguez; his siblings, Bobby and Irma DeLeon, Nancy and Randy Wellman, Johnny DeLeon, Joe and Annette DeLeon; thirty-five grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends whose lives he touched. Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Reymundo DeLeon, brother, Ruben DeLeon, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carlos and Alice Mata, brother-in-law, David Mata, grandparents, Hepolito and Angelina Trejo, Pillar DeLeon, Anastacio and Urbana Teneyuque.
The family would like to express their utmost appreciation to Dr. Ivan Co and his team, nurses, Jennifer and Marco and RT, Jamie at the University of Michigan Hospital. Eddie was one of a kind and will truly be missed by all who were blessed to have him in their lives. He fought hard until the very end. Although he is no longer with us, we are thankful that he found hope and salvation in Jesus Christ and is now resting in Heaven.
Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. His son and Pastor, Ramon Barrera will officiate with burial in Mt.
