Edwin W. "Ed" Drafke, age 97, World War II, U.S. Army veteran, a resident of Warrenville, IL since 1954, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at his son's home in Hinckley, IL. He was born March 21, 1927, in Hinsdale, IL.
Beloved husband of 69 years to the late Mary Jane Drafke (nee Kearns), whom he married November 15, 1952 and who preceded him in death on December 5, 2021, loving father of Edward (Kay) Drafke of Hinckley, IL and Jane (the late Nat) Amadeo of Kearny, NJ, adored grandfather of Eddie Drafke, Sarah (Josh) Anderson and Amy (Chris) Gries; Nat Amadeo, Anthony (Stephanie) Amadeo, Molly (John) Digravina, Andrew Amadeo, Ashleigh (Joseph) Ford and Jane Amadeo, cherished great-grandfather of Jackson and Matthew Anderson; Sophia Gries; Luke and Eliana Amadeo; Alessia and Johnny Digravina, devoted son of the late Edward and Anna (nee Herbert) Drafke, son-in-law of the late William and Amalia Kearns, dear brother of the late Eleanor (the late Eldon) Schrader, brother-in-law of the late Jim Kearns, Marge Konsbruck, Ruth Ann Heckman, Kathryn Beatty and Bill Kearns, fond uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle and friend of many.
Ed grew up on his family's farms in Lemont and Bolingbrook, IL. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947 during the Occupation of Germany after World War II and worked as a truck driver for Kroehler Manufacturing in Naperville, IL and farmed in the area for many years.
Ed was a longtime member of St. Irene Catholic Church in Warrenville and the Knights of Columbus Council #6710. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1290, Naperville and the Tiger Athletic Club in Aurora, IL. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and golfing.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, 1:00-5:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 9, 10:30 AM at St. Irene Catholic Church, 28W441 Warrenville Rd, Warrenville, IL 60555, (630) 393-2400.
Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
