Eileen Boyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Melson Funeral Services - Ocean View Chapel on Apr. 18, 2024.
Eileen Marie Boyer (né Marks) was born on December 7, 1938 and passed away on April 11, 2024. Eileen was the daughter of William and Ethel Marks (both deceased) of Brooklyn, New York. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Don Boyer, of Tempe, Arizona. She is survived by her sons Eric Boyer and his wife Margaret and their children Kai and Samara of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Dustin Boyer and Michelle of Las Vegas, Nevada; while her sister Edna and brother-in-law Paul Laria are deceased, she is survived by their children Paul Jr, Vincent, Billy, Diana and Donna. She is survived by her sister, Carol and her brother-in-law Joseph Agresto and their children Christine, Audrey and David.
Eileen's formative years were spent in Brooklyn, New York. She was extremely close to her sisters. Eileen was a member of the 1956 graduating class of St Francis Xavier High School. She continued her education at Hunter College in Manhattan and graduated in 1960. Eileen was a teacher in the Baltimore County Public Schools system. She followed her passion for theater and earned a Master's Degree in Speech and Drama from the University of Delaware in Newark in 1970. While in Delaware she was in numerous theatrical productions. She continued her pursuit of higher education and in 1979 was awarded a PhD in Education from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She was a strong advocate of higher education which inspired both of her sons to follow in her footsteps. An avid reader until her death she also wrote two novels.
Eileen truly loved her family and was a wonderful mother. She raised her children in Wyoming. While she always emphasized education, Eileen still made time to coach soccer, take her kids skiing, attend baseball games, go camping, fishing and traveling. She even built a ski house in Breckenridge, Colorado. Eileen moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1988 where she remained until her death. Throughout her life Eileen's favorite place on earth was Bethany Beach. Each summer she would drive over 30 hours from the west coast to Delaware so her family could visit their beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews for 2 weeks. This tradition, which she started, continues to this day. It has kept her family very close and is why she chose Delaware as her final resting place. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
A prayer service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, DE 19970, where friends may visit after 10 AM. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery.
