Elizabeth Ann Jones, 44, passed away in her sleep at home on November 8, 2025, after suffering from congenital heart disease all her life. Elizabeth, known by her family as Beth, known by her friends as Liz, was born on August 27, 1981 without a pulmonary artery and she had many holes between her heart chambers, causing her to turn blue shortly after birth. She had emergency surgery at 4 days old and again at 11 months old. During this time, she lived in the hospital and in a foster home. She was adopted by Dave and Marge Jones at 14 months old. She grew into a very active and happy toddler, but over the years she would have to endure countless heart surgeries and procedures. We are grateful to Kosair Childrens Hospital and Nortons Hospital and her team of heart doctors who worked hard to keep her alive and able to live a full life.
Beth found joy in the simple things in life. She loved family gatherings, going to the movies, going out to eat, visiting the zoo, reading and watching WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). She especially loved going to the St. Anthony's picnic with her aunt Betty. She loved big events, like going to Taylor Swift concerts and seeing Disney on Ice! She had a lifelong love of trains and volunteered many hours at the Kentucky Railway Museum. Beth loved traveling and made many memorable trips to Disney World, Yosemite, Washington D.C., Panama City Beach and San Diego. Her favorite trip was seeing Zoe's Bat Mitzvah in Hillsborough, New Jersey and then sightseeing in Philadelphia with her family.
Beth was very proud of graduating from Jeffersontown High School in the year 2000. She attended high school while living with her dear Aunt Betty. It was in high school where she met Missy Jackson who would later become her life partner.
Beth was proud of being a mom, she delivered a healthy baby on September 3, 2001, Brooke Diane Ward, now known as Leo. She was so glad that her child was smart!
Beth is survived by her child Leo Fernbreeze of Macon, GA; Missy Jackson, her partner of over 10 years of Louisville, KY; her father David Jones (Jayne) of Owensboro, KY; her mother Margaret Jones of Owensboro, KY; siblings Emily Quinn (Jason) of Hillsborough, NJ, Christopher Jones (Kati) of Owensboro, KY, Ashley Jones of Owensboro, KY; her nieces and nephews Parker Jones, Zoe Quinn, Jaxon Jones, Brandley Jones and Eowyn Hallam; her aunts Marilyn Lilly (Steve) of San Diego, CA, Joann Paris (Dana) of Findlay, OH, Norma MacDougall of Mesa, AZ. She had many cousins whom she loved dearly.
Beth was preceded in death by her grandparents Dan and Mary MacDougall and Eugene and Mary Jones; her aunts Sr. Betty MacDougall and Sr. Dorothy MacDougall; her uncle Dan Mac Dougall and her cousins Stephen Lilly and Patrick MacDougall.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home with interment to follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
