Elizabeth Anne "Beth" Plotner
Age 95, formerly of Upper St. Clair, left us to be with the Lord on January 7, 2021.She was born July 13, 1925 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of George H. and Bess Givens Walton. Beth was a graduate of Dormont High School and Robert Morris School of Business. She was the personal secretary to the President of Calgon, Inc. before moving on to start a family.
Beth was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was actively involved in all aspects of the women's associations. She was passionate about teaching nursery school at the church, and was a highly thought of wedding coordinator there for many years before passing the torch at age 88. Beth especially enjoyed participating in the church rummage sales to raise monies for charities. Her church work was energized by faith and her service motivated by love.
If you couldn't find Beth at her church, she was probably busy gardening, playing bridge with the girls, reading, turning out beautifully detailed crewelwork, or socializing with her beloved neighbors. Left to cherish her memory are her son, George "Sandy" Walton Plotner (Becky), daughter, Robin Anne Plotner-Byard (Chip Polly), dearly loved grandsons, Jeffrey (Courtney) and Brian Plotner, treasured great grandchildren, Judson, Barnes and Tucker Plotner, cherished nephews, Richard (Kaye) and Howard "Skip" (Gail) Sheppard and dearest great nephew/nieces, Chris Sheppard, Maggie Sheppard Doria, Aubri Sheppard Minerd and Sara Sheppard Beekman. In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Judson Bell Plotner who passed on December 20, 1984, her sister, Margaret Sheppard, nephew, James Sheppard, and son-in-law, David Byard.The family would like to thank Hospice of the Golden Isles in Georgia for their support and care of Mom. A memorial service celebrating and honoring Mom will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at an undetermined future date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
