Elizabeth Teachey Obituary
Marie was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in caring for others, especially through her love of babysitting children. Her nurturing spirit touched many lives, leaving a legacy of warmth and kindness.
She was a charter member of the Leland Church of God, where she formed lifelong friendships and contributed to her community's spiritual life.
Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Leon R. Teachey, Sr., who passed away on October 18, 2023. She is also preceded in death by her parents, George Frances and Bertha Elneda Tharp Ganey, and her granddaughter, Courtney Varner. Also preceding her were brothers Carlton and George Ganey, Jr.; and sister Lois G. Adams.
She is survived by her sons: Leon Ronald Teachey, Jr. of Wilmington; Gary Teachey and his wife Amy of Leland; and Kevin Teachey and his wife Jennifer of Scotland. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Cayla, Ryan, and Quinn Teachey, who brought immense joy to her life.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Pine Valley Church of God. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the service time. Her son Gary Teachey will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Jere Ganey, Danny Jarrell, Jeremy Jarrell, Al Ganey III, Grant Fairfax and Trevor Kelley.
Marie will be remembered for her gentle soul, unwavering faith, and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
