Columbus, Ohio – Ellen Delores Meeks, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 21, 2025. Born on March 20, 1946, in Pomeroy, Ohio, Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Elizabeth James Qualls.
Ellen's life was defined by joy, humor, and dedication. A proud graduate of Pomeroy High School, she lit up the stage in talent shows, delighting audiences with choreographed dance routines alongside her closest friends. Her vibrant spirit made her the family comedian, always ready with a good laugh and unforgettable stories.
She worked for Nationwide Insurance Company for 35 years as a dedicated accounting clerk, earning the respect of colleagues and friends. Retirement didn’t slow her down—Ellen brought her energy and creativity to Kroger’s Floral Department, where her love for beauty and connection thrived. She was an enthusiastic bargain hunter, a joyful shopper, and above all, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Ellen is survived by her loving daughter, Victoria Meeks; cherished grandchildren, Tiffany (Daylon) Jenkins and Trenton Dale Qualls; nine adored great-grandchildren: Kadynce, Keaghan, Brogan, Brylan, Kolsyn, Kendall, Gia, Kiana, and Journey; two devoted sisters, Hazel Tolbert and Mary Kay Blanks; her brother, Robert (Julia) Qualls; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was reunited in rest with her beloved husband Bobby Meeks (2008); daughter Denise Nitz; sisters Patty, Betty, and Kathryn; and brothers Jimmy, Randy, Terry, and Dicky.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at Minersville Cemetery.
