Ene M. Inno, 88, of Oneida, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at her home.
She was born on November 9, 1936, in Tartu, Estonia, the daughter of Karl and Erika (Plado) Inno. She and her parents, immigrated to the United States when Ene was 13. They arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on April 26, 1950, aboard the USNS General Stuart Heintzelann arriving from Bremerhaven. Ene was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School, Class of 1955. She received her bachelor's degree and later her master's degree in political science and German literature.
Ene was the Director of Personnel for Griffis Air Force Base from 1988 to her retirement on September 30, 1995. She began her career on July 2, 1962, at the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in New York City, NY, until May 14, 1968. She was transferred to PACAF in Thailand until October 14, 1972. On October 15, 1972, she was stationed at Fort Meyer, Virginia, until March 31, 1973. On April 1, 1973, she went to work at the United States Air Force Base in Washington, DC, until May 27, 1978. On May 28, 1978, she was transferred to Torrejon Air Force Base in Spain until May 20, 1982. On May 21, 1982, she moved back to the United States to work at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, until September 24, 1988. On September 25, 1988, she was transferred to Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY.
Surviving is her cousin, Ingrid Ploom, of Estonia; and several extended family members. Ene was predeceased by her sister, Urve Hello Inno in 1945.
