Eunice Weems, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away August 11, 2025 at her residence. She was born April 13, 1933 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late James Ellis Brenton and Merle (Lowell). Eunice married J.C. Weems on July 17, 1951 in Jefferson County and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2019.

Eunice is survived by her children, Terry Lee Young of Irvington, Illinois, Steve Weems of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Dale Weems of Mount Vernon, Illinois; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Hazel Meinhart of Effingham, Illinois and brother, Jim Brenton of Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to her parents, Eunice was preceded in death by her husband; grandson and her siblings.

For many years, Eunice worked for General Electric in Mattoon, Illinois before working alongside her husband, J.C. at Weems Towing. Eunice was a past member of Eastern Star and above all else was a loving mother and grandmother.

A Visitation will be held August 15, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10:00 am at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Eunice's honor to the Donor's Choice.
