Fabian M. Torres

Fabian Martin Torres, age 55 years, passed away Monday afternoon, September 30, 2024. He was born on March 27, 1969 in Caro, the son of Carlos and the late Angelita Torres. Fabian was a hardworking, dedicated and proud veteran. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. with the 5th Battalion 11th Marines in the 1st Marine Division – serving in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Upon being honorably discharged Fabian attended SVSU where he obtained his Bachelor's of Social Work and continued his education at CMU obtaining a Master's of Arts degree. He worked for several years as a social worker for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Fabian enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting – he was the ultimate grill master and was an avid U of M, Tigers and Lions fan.
Fabian was a loving father, grandfather, son and brother who will be sadly missed by his surviving family – son, Enrico Torres; daughter, Samantha (Samuel Castilla) Campbell; grandchildren, Ellie and Sammy Castilla; father, Carlos Torres Jr.; siblings, Carlos (Rebecca) Torres, John (Cici) Torres, Jill (Justin Forsyth) Torres and Paul (Marie) Torres; nieces and nephews, Monik, Carlos Jr, Adam, Samuel, Isaac, Jerry, Marissa, Arianna, Logan and Lainey; great nieces and nephews, Aaliyah, Joshua Jr, Kingston and Mason; close friend, Greg Schiefer; special four-legged companion, Candance as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Fabian was preceded in death by his mother, Angelita Torres and nephew, Nico.
The family will be present to greet visitors on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 6th from 10:00 am to 3:00 p.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St in Vassar. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 pm on Saturday and 2:00 pm on Sunday. Following the visitation on Sunday there will be a luncheon at the Richville American Legion – 9890 W. Sanilac Rd Reese, MI 48757. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution may consider the Wounded Warriors Project or the Vassar Veterans Military Support Group.
