Felix Tellford “Terry” Mitchell, 80, loving husband of Barbara Jane Barnes, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Born April 8, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Claude Solomen Mitchell and Martha Sadelle (Kennedy) Mitchell.
Terry was a passionate outdoorsman, a Man’s Man, who enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and hunting. His special friend Rollie Smith was a favorite partner in these adventures for over 60 years. He was an accomplished pistol shooter and often times placed in the top 3 of his class at International Practical Shooting Confederation competitions.
He was a long-time member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. Terry served on the Building and Grounds committee and presided over the men’s club for several years, plus other roles that he could not refuse. His career skills included machining, gunsmithing, industrial and residential construction, real estate sales and brokering,
In addition to his wife of 44 years, Terry leaves behind his daughter, Wendy Mitchell Davey (Willis TX), grandchildren; Mitchell and Miranda Davey (Waynesville NC), Aubrey Collado (Willis TX) and 4 great grandchildren, his sisters, Cheryl Henderson (Wills Point TX), Debra Vaughan and Marie Burns (Spartanburg), and a brother James Earl Mitchell (Hickory NC).
He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Flores, and brothers; Wayne Mitchell and Richard Mitchell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Saint Paul UMC,1320 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family will receive friends starting at 1 PM, with the service at 2 PM, and a reception following.
