Florian P. Ozimek

Florian Peter Ozimek, 106, a resident of St. Mary's Asbury Ridge, passed away Tuesday January 7, 2025. He was born in Uniontown, PA on May 28, 1918 a son of the late Peter P. and Mary Marawa Ozimek.
Florian graduated from Waterford High School and went on to graduate from Alliance College in Cambridge Springs in the late 1930's with a degree in Tool Design and Manufacture. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and took electronics training (TV and radio repair) under the GI Bill. He had a home repair business in the basement and went on to work as a tool maker at Lord Corporation for over 40 years until his retirement. He was an avid Catholic, belonging to St. John's and St. Jude's parishes and continued to attend Mass every Sunday morning at the St. Mary's Asbury Ridge chapel. He took meticulous care of his lawn and was an accomplished vegetable gardener. Most of all, his family was the most important thing to him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years in 2015, Jane Koper Ozimek, whom he married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in 1942; his son, Larry Ozimek; and three sisters, Pauline Dubowski, Victoria Olowin, and Julia Zapolski.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Ozimek, whom he cared for along with his son and daughter for nine years, and Patty Cummings (Dave), all of Erie; one son, Richard F. Ozimek (Sue) of Erie; three grandchildren, Richard Ozimek (Tracy), Suzanne Martone (Jamey), and Jeffrey Blackmond (Tracy); four great grandchildren, McKenna Budzinski (Jake), Taylor Ozimek, Brooke Martone, and Eric Ozimek; one great, great granddaughter, Avery Mae Budzinski; one brother, Peter Ozimek (Patricia) of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at St. Jude Catholic Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Florian's family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of St. Mary's Asbury Ridge for their loving care and compassion.
