FLOYD JUNIOR SIMMONS

FLOYD JUNIOR SIMMONS, age 78, of Winchester, Tenn., formerly of Sherwood, Tenn., departed this life on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tenn., following an extended illness. Mr. Simmons was born in Sherwood, Tenn., to the late John Martin Simmons and Sally Ann Guess Simmons, on April 24, 1947, he was the 14th of 15 children. He was employed for approximately 10 years at Shaw Carpet Mill in Stevenson, Ala., before their closure. He was then employed for approximately 30 years at Batesville Casket Company in Manchester where he retired. He was a a talented guitar and Banjo player that was also a singer. Mr. Simmons raised a garden for many years and he enjoyed hunting squirrels and watching westerns on T.V. Mr. Simmons was described by his family as a man that got along with everyone.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Cardwell Simmons. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Simmons of Winchester, sisters; Marie Perry and Virginia Garner both of Sherwood and Orvie Simmons Haney of Cowan, Tenn., Several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 9, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00.

Interment will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery in Sherwood.
