On March 17, 2025, Francis Salvatore Gaetano passed away peacefully alongside some of those who loved him dearly including his wife of 54 years, Adeline Patricia Gaetano. He was one of the beloved sons of the late Maria Luigia Durante and Guiseppe Antonio Gaetano. He was predeceased by his siblings Yolanda Crodelle, Vienna Morini, Antoinette Lanzi, MaryAnn Kalinski, Theresa Mattison, and Ralph Gaetano. Francis graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1948. He was a distinguished mason and a 70+ year member of the International Union of Bricklayers. He was blessed with a daughter Lorraine "Laurie" Gaetano Valleriani, step-daughter Bobbie Ashcroft, and son Anthony Francis Gaetano (LydiaKaris). He adored his grandchildren Ryan Johnson (Casey), Travis Johnson (Nikki Bailey), Anthony Jackson "AJ" Gaetano (Jacqueline), Alessandra Stefani Gaetano, Nicholas David Gaetano, Nicole Ashcroft, and Daniel Ashcroft; as well as his great-grandchildren Elyanah Johnson, Brooklyn Bailey, Bishop Bailey, Anthony & Gabriella.Francis was a member of the Amsterdam congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He received much comfort from his faith and enjoyed sharing it with others. He had varied hobbies including golfing with his wife, enjoying Italian opera music, as well as weekly outings with his grandchildren in his stronger days. He will be remembered for his constant smile with never a complaint, engaging sharp wit, generous and kind spirit, and his devotion to his family. We are grateful for the loving attentive care provided by Hospice of Saratoga. They treated him like family and indeed they became such. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in The Amsterdam Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Donations may be made to Amsterdam Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses 525 Fort Hunter Road Amsterdam NY 12010.
