Francisco Torres, 88, of New Haven, CT died peacefully at Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Natividad Lopez Torres. Francisco was born in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico on September 28, 1935, a son of the late Lorenzo Torres Nieves and the late Agueda Ortiz Hernandez and had resided in New Haven for the past fifty years. He worked for the City of New Haven, Department of Public Works for several years, and later worked in custodial services at Southern Connecticut State University for twenty years, retiring in 2000. He was a longtime member of Star of Jacob Christian Church. Francisco is survived by three sons, Frank (Rosa) Torres of New Haven, Daniel (Ives Alvarez) Torres of Orlando, FL and Ricardo (Alexandra Torrealba) Ortiz of Cheshire, one sister, Francisca Torres and one brother Saul (Sara) Torres of Trujillo Alto, sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by six sisters, Teresa Medina, Felicitas Galvet, and Monica, Elisa, Virginia and Lucrecia Torres, and five brothers, Bolingo, Jesus, Ismael, Eugenio and Mario Antonio Torres. Francisco's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Star of Jacob Christian Church (Iglesia Cristiana Estrella de Jacob), 506 Howard Ave., New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Saturday, February 10th at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
