Frederick J. "Fred" Maguire, of Braintree, passed away peacefully, at home, on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 83. Born in Boston on July 12, 1942 to his late parents, Fred and Georgina (MacKenzie) Maguire, he was also predeceased by his sister Jean (Maguire) Gibbons and her husband Richard Gibbons.
Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife Carolyn (Johnson) Maguire of Braintree, his loving daughter Kristin Maguire and her fiancé Mark Baxter, and a loving son, Jeffery Maguire.
Fred graduated from Hyde Park High School and then went on to acquire his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Northeastern University.
He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 33 years of service in all three Components of the Army; Active Duty United States Army, United States Army National Guard, and the United States Army Reserve.
Fred was a Senior Life Member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts (AHAC), Past Commander of the Greater Boston Chapter of the Military Order of World Wars (MOWW), member of the American Legion Post 86 in Braintree, and the First Vice President of the Massachusetts Bay Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, August 21st, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 22nd, at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
