Frederick W. Maurer

Frederick W. Maurer "Fred" age 86, passed away on July 12, 2022. Fred was the beloved son of the late Helen and Edward Maurer and the loving husband of the late Carmen Maurer. He is survived by his sister Edna Whalen-LaCorte, Charles Maurer, Edward Maurer, nieces, nephews and his dear friends. Fred was al all around good guy and generous lobbyist. He was a graduate of Mastbaum High School and Temple Universiy. Fred participated and was active in the NE Philadelphia History Network and the Frankford Historical Society. Without fanfare he was enthusiastically willing to help preserve those local fragile artifacts and memories of history. He was a former Bell Telephone worker and union president of CWA Local be 252 he devoted his free time enjoying local opera productions. He recently took his classical music records to a hospital to visit and share with other patients. Fred gave much of his time to the Tookany Park and the unattended grounds of a cemetery near Ramona Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia. He called himself a conservationist, but was also a historian. Being a conservationist, historian and educator-that really defined him. He was an avid lover of all things that involved nature, he loved to spend time in the Pocono area. Fred took the time to ensure, that he did all that he could to preserve the history of Philadelphia.
Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside services, Monday, July 18, 2022, 11:00 am at Oakland Cemetery, Adams Avenue at Roosevelt Blvd, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Carmen.
