Galen Alton Howe

HOULTON - Galen Alton Howe, 78, died February 29, 2024 in Houlton, Maine peacefully at home with his family by his side. Galen was born on January 31, 1946 in Houlton, Maine the son of Harry H. Howe Sr. (Tink) and Audrey (Kinney) Howe. Galen graduated from Houlton High School Class of 1964 and served two years in the United States Army. Upon serving his country, Galen moved to Connecticut to pursue employment opportunities. After a couple of years, Galen decided to return to Maine. Shortly after returning to Maine, Galen met Bernadette M. Blanchette. They married in 1972 and began their family. Together they raised three children; Peter, Brian, and Kristine. Galen had a twenty year career with Interstate Uniform Service. He was very proud of his recent forty year career with York's of Houlton as sales/used car manager. Galen was a lifetime member of Houlton Lodge of Elks BPOE 835, and a member of the Houlton VFW Post # 0047. Galen is survived by his children: Peter (Amanda) Howe and their children Elizabeth and Sarah. Brian (Stephanie) Howe and their children; Daniel (Kayla), Patrick (Megan Collett), and Rebecca (Matthew Moran) Howe of Houlton. Kristine and her children Emma and Leah Swallow. He is also survived by his great grandchildren; Daniel and Madelyn Howe. His extended work family at York's of Houlton, and friends at Houlton Lodge of Elks. Honoring Galen's wishes there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Houlton Lodge of Elks BPOE 835 on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
