A gathering of family and friends for Gary Walter Cowan, 72, of Wills Point, TX, is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, March 25, 2022, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home.
Gary Walter Cowan was born on February 10, 1950, in Seattle, WA, to parents Walter Edgar Cowan and Josephine Fray. He was raised in Dallas and graduated from Lake Highlands High School. Gary drove a truck across the country for many years hauling chickens to California and produce back to Texas. He enjoyed seeing different states and meeting other drivers. He was employed by Stewart & Stevenson as a diesel mechanic for 16 years. Gary and Patricia moved to Wills Point in 2016, to make their permanent home after he retired in 2015. He loved riding his motorcycles, restoring tractors, hunting, fishing and shooting guns. Gary also enjoyed anything mechanical he could tinker with.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jo Cowan; son, Stephen Cowan Hyde.
Gary is survived by his wife, Tricia Cowan of Wills Point, TX; son, John Cowan and wife, Rebecca Cornell of Dallas, TX; sister, Kathleen Finn of Killeen, TX; and brother, Bill Cowan of Houston, TX.
