Gary Lee Moore, 61, of Wynne, died at home on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Lee was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on December 8, 1963, to the late James Martin and Linda Sue Slocum Moore. He was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he played baseball. In 1987, Lee moved to Wynne, Arkansas where he coached multiple sports. He was an offensive line coach for a number of years, winning two state championships in 2001 and 2004, along with baseball, basketball, and track. Later in his career he became the golf coach, coaching two individual state champions. On and off the field Coach Moore was a remarkable mentor and friend. He spent many hours mentoring, and his impact went beyond sports. His door was always open, and he was always quick to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, calling the hogs, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his son, Keaton Johnson of Fayetteville, brother, Scott Moore and wife Donna of White Hall, sisters, Suzanne Harrell and husband Lonnie of Pea Ridge, Kim Board and husband Marcus of Rogers, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
Visitation will be held at Wynne Baptist Church on Wednesday, from 12:30 pm until 2 PM in the Sanctuary, with memorial services following at 2 pm. The speakers will be Coach Lionel Myers, Coach Bobby Gross and Superintendent of Wynne Schools, Kenneth Moore. Private burial service will be held at a later date in White Hall, AR. In lieu of flowers, Coach Moore's family ask that donations be made to the "Coach Leemo Scholarship Fund." at Cross County Bank.
