Gary Frank Poinsett Sr, 69, passed away Tuesday October 25, 2022 in his home in Southampton, NJ. Gary was born on July 7, 1953 in Mount Holly, NJ to Isabel June Feras and John Feras.
Gary graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in 1971. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1973 until 1992. During his time in the Air Force he received numerous awards including the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with a bronze star, Air Force Short and Long Tour ribbons, and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 3 oak leaf clusters. From 1990 until 1992 he served in Operation Desert Storm. He also received a degree in Astronomy during his tenure.
Gary enjoyed many things in life. He was an avid bowler for many years, competing in and winning numerous leagues and tournaments. He was a car enthusiast and was well known for buying and selling over 75 of his personal cars throughout his life. He was passionate about model cars and model trains, even building entire scenes and neighborhoods. He also was very passionate about animals, specifically stray cats and birds.
Gary is survived by his mother Isabel June Feras, his son Gary Frank Poinsett Jr and wife Kerry, his daughter Amy Renee Poinsett, two brothers John Feras and his wife Colleen, George DuBell and his wife Sue, 6 grandchildren Andrew Colvin, Nathan Colvin, Riley Colvin, Adam Colvin, Hannah Woodward and her husband Jacob, and Jesse Wagster. He also has many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceeded in death by his father John Feras.
There will be a memorial service for Gary on Saturday, October 29th 2022 at 3:00pm at Perinchief Chapels in Mt Holly, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA.
