Genevieve Provost

MASSENA – Genevieve "Gen" Provost, 105, a longtime resident of Grassmere Terrace, peacefully passed away October 19, 2025 at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Gen was born in Brooklyn on July 25, 1920, the daughter of John and Martha (Novack) Kuca. She was raised in Massena, where she attended local schools. On July 25, 1942, she married Joseph Provost at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He predeceased her on February 10, 1979.
Gen worked for a time in the cafeteria at Madison Elementary School and at the St. Regis Nursing Home. Additionally, she worked at Leon Prescott's Restaurant on Willow Street in Massena. She was a member of Massena Senior Citizens and communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, cooking, baking, crocheting, and helping others.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Provost of Massena; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Provost and Janet (Kevin) Brault; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Helen Kirkey and her brothers, John F. Jr., Eddie, Richard, and Stanley "Stitch" Kuca.
Services are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where they were held privately with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
