George E. "Red" Haessig, 76, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025. He was a long time resident of Greenwood.
He was born August 30, 1948 in Beech Grove, IN to George E. and Alberta Gamstetter Haessig. He graduated from Roncalli High School.
He met Judy Browning at the Greenwood Waffle House in 1994, and they later married on January 7, 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Haessig of Greenwood; children, Scott (Patty) Haessig of Greenwood, Billy (Terrie) Smith of LInton, Racheal (Scott) Wellington of Linton, Dustin Seay of Vero Beach, FL, and Tyler Seay of Fredricksburg, VA; grandchildren, Ethan, Jackson, Brian, Chase, Kayla, Shana, Dusty, Courtney, Cole, Haley, Thomas, Aubrey, Sammy, Deslin, Dorian, Dawson, and Avery; and five great grandchildren; four sisters, Barb Weaver of Greenwood, Mary Jackson of Indianapolis, Judy Elliott of Greenwood, and Joyce (Tim) Davis of Martinsville.
Red was self employed, as owner of Red's Auto Care in Greenwood for over 21 years. He later worked at Rural King as an assembler from March 2017 to April 2025. He enjoyed his time as a handyman there, and worked at all facets of the store. He was well loved by his fellow co-workers and customers.
He loved the outdoors, and was a passionate deer hunter and fisherman.
A memorial gathering will take place from 2-5PM, Sunday, May 18, at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood.
