George Michael "Mike" Humphries is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He went on to Glory peacefully in his sleep on the 31st day of January in the year of our Lord 2024. Mike was preceded in death by his father George Ray Humphries and his mother Mary Lucille Humphries. He arrived in Glory before his wife Nora Kay Humphries of Wichita Falls, Jennifer Humphries Walker of Wichita Falls, Shawn and Kasey Humphries, Levi and Brodie Heath, and granddaughter Rylan Humphries of Cisco, TX, brother Vester Humphries of Wichita Falls, and sister Karen and George Barker of Bandera TX.
Mike graduated from Burkburnett High School, proudly served in the United States Air Force, achieved technical certification in Electronics, worked for the space station, and the highway department where he met his wife Kay, and ended his working career at Cryovac div. Sealed Air in Iowa Park. For 30+ years he was an industrial maintenance technician and enjoyed his job of fixing things. He played Golf, collected tools, repaired firearms, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his kids, and grandkids, and the ones he adopted and loved just as much as if they were his own. After he retired, he became a gunsmith and took great pride in getting certificates to be a certified 1911 and AR-15 smith. He was a member of Rephidim Church and until his health prevented it, could be found there with his church family almost every time the doors were opened and many times when the doors weren't open. He spentcountless hours supporting the day-to-dayoperations of the church and served as a deacon for several years as well.
Mike loves technical things! He could literally sit and read stereo instructions, maybe not fast, he always said he hated to read because he read so slowly, but he always, and I mean always read the instructions. I think that is why he loves God so much, God is the technician of all creation!
Mike would probably not want to be eulogized, but I want the world to know what he meant to the people who loved him! He is very humble, he knows that he doesn't haveall the answers, but will dig in and try his very best to find the answer for you and himself. He is very loving, Daddy loves with his whole heart and soul, if you were his friend, it didn't matter what anyone else said, he was there for you! He was generous with what little he had, be it money, tools, advice, knowledge, or the sweat of his brow. He gives us so many reasons to be thankful that God put him in our lives.
Mike is a patriot and served his country proudly in the Air Force before he and my mother met and married. They have been married for 53 years. He raised me and my sister to fear and respect God through Jesus Christ! To say that we all will miss his presence is an understatement but knowing that he is now in heaven with the Lord of all creation, that he has heard God say "Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord." Mathew 25:21.is a constant and complete comfort to me.
Mike's favorite Psalm is the 23rd Psalm of David, it's a warrior prayer, he is a warrior for the Lord God almighty!
The LORD Is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
forever
Reading this you might have noticed that I didn't use the "past tense" while talking about my Dad, that is because he is eternal now, his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, that he died on the cross and rose again 3 days later as payment for our sins so that we could have fellowship with God the Father and eternal life with him means that he is very much alive and well, just in a different location. His address has always been in heaven with the Lord. Now his soul is there and soon he will have a new incorruptible immortal body just like Jesus. When we shall all be reunited in Glory!
The family would like to invite anyone who would like to remember Mike and pay their respects to the Sale Barn Cowboy Church located at 12914 US-287n, Wichita Falls TX 76305 at 11:00 am on Saturday February 10th.
