George David (Pops or Scotty) Mehaffie, 86, a resident of Hambleton passed from this life Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
George was born on Thursday, May 8, 1938, in Frederick, MD, a son of the late George Mehaffie and Fannie Elizabeth Michael Mehaffie.
Left to cherish George's memory are five children, Daniel Mehaffie, David Mehaffie, Lori Mehaffie, Kevin Comegys, and Michele Hahn, a sister, Terri Leather, special friends/family, Loretta Pennington, Cindy Sigley, Michael and Kristen Nine, Jay and Kendra Vance, Leeann Brown, and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding George in death besides his parents were two brothers, James "Jim" Mehaffie and Robert "Bob" Mehaffie, and three sisters, Connie Boone, Frances Mehaffie, and Florence "Flo" Angleberger.
George was a graduate of Frederick High School with the class of 1956. He had served with the United States Air Force and had operated the ExxonMobil Service Station in Parsons until his retirement. He was an avid woodworker with a passion for working in his wood shop making tables, stands, and cabinets.
George's request for cremation was honored.
