He served on boards for the Washington County Free Library, Western Maryland Museum of Fine Art, Penmar Development Corporation, and Hagerstown Regional Airport. He was a member of John Wesley Methodist Church in Hagerstown and served on their board of trustees. He was an avid woodworker, gardener and enjoyed traveling and watching Virginia Tech sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen Stone, son, Jay (Joanna) Stone, son, Christopher (Adriana) Stone, grandchildren, Hannah, Camden, Mose, and Luka, sister, Dana (Rodney) DeWitt, sister-in-law, Pam Stone, and various nieces, nephews, friends and former colleagues.
