George H. Wurst, age 82 of Erie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday March 30, 2022. He was born in Erie, February 22, 1940, son of the late Edward and Ruth (Otteni) Wurst.
George retired as a master electrician. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid reader. His biggest joy was spending time with his family. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia R. (Davis) Wurst, and grandson Eric Edward Wurst.
Survivors include his children; Doug Wurst (Joyce) of Erie, Sue (Mike) Granelli of CA, Heidi Freeland (Gary) of IN, and Mike Wurst (Abby) of NY, six grandchildren; Daryl Andrews (Aliscia), Tony (April) Granelli, Jeff (Lisa) Wurst, Allison Andrews, Joe Granelli, and Courtney Bidwell (Brandon); ten great grandchildren; Kaleb, Logan, Eric, Sloane, Annsley, Isla, Dominic, Bexlynn, Alayna and Cecelia; seven siblings; Edward Wurst, Clarendon, Shirley Brown (Jim), Tidioute, Richard Wurst (Rochelle), Erie, Jean Wurst, Erie, Ronald Wurst (Elizabeth Hall), McKean, Carol Kopac (Tony Wieczorek), Erie and Paula Brocious (Greg), Girard. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Family and friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., Erie, Sunday, April 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend services there Monday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. with his brother in-law Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
