Georgiana G. Silvers, 94 of Somerset, passed away peacefully and entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center in Somerset, just 5 days after her 94th Birthday.
She was born on September 2, 1931 in Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of the late John and Georgia Gregory Silvers. She was a member of the 1949 graduating class of Somerset High School. Georgiana received her bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. She was a dedicated Educator in the Pulaski County School System until her retirement after over 40 years of service. Georgiana was the last surviving charter member of the Duke Memorial Baptist Church where she faithfully served as the pianist and organist for over 60 years.
Georgiana loved listening to Southern Gospel Music. Her genuine passion and love for music and playing the organ was captured in a Commonwealth Journal article in 2018 written by the late Bill Mardis. The article displayed the essence and authenticity of her dedicated and skillful talents. She also enjoyed working cross word puzzles and would complete them in ink, always being assured of the correct answers. Georgiana was a voracious reader and an animal lover. She served on the Pulaski County Humane Society Board of Directors and was a member of the Pulaski County Retired Teachers Association as well as the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. Georgiana was a loving, kindhearted and generous person and will certainly be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
While Georgiana never married and had any children, she considered her neighbors Mark and Julie Goodan as her children and their son Jonathan as a grandchild that she never had. Eddie Ping was also a kind neighbor who always took care of her lawn and she treated him as a beloved son. In accordance with her final wishes, cremation has taken place and she is will be joined in her final resting place with her precious "fur baby"; Dolly.
A Private Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held in the Somerset City Cemetery with Jonathan Goodan Officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Somerset Pulaski County Humane Society, 176 Chris Way, P. O. box 448, Somerset, Kentucky 42502.
