Grantham, NH-Gilbert H. Alexander, M.D., 95, of Roslyn, NY, formerly of Eastman, died Wed., Feb. 5, 2004 in Manhasset, NY.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Nov. 6, 1908. Dr. Alexander graduated from Cornell Univesity in 1928 with a B.A. degree in Math where he was active in lacrosse, swimming, and was a member of the TE Phi Fraternity. He received his MD from Jefferson Medical College in 1933 and was active in Phi Delta Epsilon and Alpha Omega Alpha. He was an intern and resident in Radiology at Beth Israel Hospital in NY.

He was a NY Diplomate American Board of Radiology, Fellow American College of Radiology and Fellow American Association for Advancement of Science.

Dr. Alexander was a Radiologist at various Veterans Hospitals from 1938-1950. He was Director of the Dept. of Radiology at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA from 1950-1983 and was Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Pittsburgh from 1951-1978.

He was author of several papers! on Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and author of the book, The Heart and Its Action. Dr. Alexander lived in Brooklyn, Ithaca, NY, Chicago, IL, Dayton, OH, St. Louis, MO, Fayetteville, AK, and Muskogee, OK. He resided in Pittsburgh, PA from 1947-1985 and lived in Grantham for 25 years.

He enjoyed golf, skiing, bridge, and travel. He has been around the world, across the equator related to touring Australia including cruising within the Great Barrier Reef. He has been to much of Europe and parts of China, Hong Kong, and Japan.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Judith (Goldberg) Alexander and his daughter, Leslie. Members of his family surviving include his wife, Rosalind (Schoenfeld) Alexander of Roslyn, NY; a son, Michael Alexander of Bozeman, MT; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A gathering to honor his life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at 12:00 Noon at the Lake Sunapee Country Club, New London, NH. Burial will be in Grantha! m Memorial Cemetery, Grantham, NH later in the spring. In lieu of flo wers memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Medical College, 1020 Locust Street-M41, Philadelphia, PA 19107-6799 or to Cornell Class of 1928, Alumni House, 626 Thurston Avenue, Ithaca, NY 14850-2490.
