A Liturgy of The Word, will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Gordy Ray Sarver, 84, who passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022, at his residence in Lafayette.
Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will resume on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 9:00 am until the time of service.
A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 6:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Father Joe Campion, Pastor of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate.
Gordy Ray "Jack" Sarver, was born December 2, 1937, in Crowley, Louisiana and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. He graduated from Crowley High School in Crowley. Shortly after high school, Jack was drafted into the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
After his time in the service, Jack met the love of his life, Pearl Fontenot, of Ville Platte, Louisiana. Their marriage of 52 years, brought many enjoyable memories of dancing the years away. He began his career as the owner of Sarver Tile Company, lasting 42 years.
Jack most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Having grown up on a farm, he was an avid vegetable gardener. Jack was also handy helping out with Pearl's flower gardens. Family meant everything to Jack, and he leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Pearl Sarver, of Lafayette; one son, Michael L. Sarver, of Lafayette; one honorary daughter, Angela Benedict, of Lafayette; one honorary son, Ema Haq and his wife, Laizu, of Lafayette; one sister, Karen Fluitt, of Crowley; five honorary grandchildren, Chloe Dupleix, Claire Dupleix, Zadid Haq, Tamim Haq, Sabriah Haq and dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordy and Lois Petry Sarver; his son, Barry J. Sarver; and two sisters, Mattie Dubose and Marjorie Bertrand.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care given to Jack and his family.
