Gregory A. Huffman, 74, well-known Attorney, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Greg was born September 29, 1947, in Muncie, the son of John and Margaret (Gregory) Huffman. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1965, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan.
Greg was a Senior Attorney for DeFur Voran LLP, representing individuals and business entities in commercial and real estate transactions.
Mr. Huffman was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and the church council, former President of Muncie Salvation Army Board, former Vice President for Development for United Way, and former President of Community Enhancement Projects, Inc.
Greg was also a member the Muncie Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, Phi Alpha Delta and the East Central Indiana Estate Planning Council. Greg wrote and presented for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum and presented seminars for numerous clients and community groups. He received the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award and recently received the 2021 David Sursa Leadership Award which recognized his dedication and service to Muncie Civic Theatre. He served as Secretary, Vice President and President of the Muncie Civic Theatre Board, and served on the board since the 1980's. Greg was instrumental in helping guide Civic Theater through the COVID-19 pandemic so that arts programming could continue to be offered to the community.
Greg was passionate about traveling and was able to visit many different countries throughout the world. He enjoyed learning about other cultures, especially from a historic perspective. He loved gardening, botanical gardens and museums. Greg was also an avid sports fan and attended men's basketball games at Ball State University and Indiana University.
Greg is survived by cousins Alice Huffman Van Dyke, Molly Huffman, Nancy Huffman Ellis, Susan Harshman Piefer, Janet Harshman McColgan, Kay Harshman DiStefano, Sandra Shirey, Larry Shirey and Cindy Shafer. He was preceded in death by his parents, cousins Richard Shirey, William Shirey and Phyllis Fields.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday,, 2022, at High Street United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mackenzie Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.
Friends may call at High Street United Methodist Church on Thursday,, 2022, from 12:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm.
