Gregory J. "Greg" Powers, 63, of Washington Township, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in his home.
Born May 4, 1961 in Kittanning he was the son of the late James E. Powers and Winifred "Winnie" (Hilty) Powers of Washington Township. Greg lived in Washington Township most of his life. He was a 1979 graduate of Kiski Area High School, 1984 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and a 1986 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Greg was a member of Poke Run Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed sports, specifically football. Greg loved watching movies and listening to music.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Grace Powers and maternal grandparents, Marley and Ola Hilty.
In addition to his mother, Greg is survived by his sisters, Sandra (Tim) "Sandy" Ballas and Laurie Powers both of Washington Township; nephew, Lt. Colonel Timothy (Valerie) Ballas of Ft. Greg Adams, VA; niece, Katie Ballas of Erie; niece Abbey (Zachary) Arrington of Clarksville, TN; and great nieces, Valencia, Elizabeth, Marianna, Magdalena, Eleanor, Savannah, and a great nephew, Thomas; uncle, Frank (Connie) Powers; and several cousins.
Services will be privately held in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 100 Owens View Ave. Apollo with Pastor Pete Goetschius officiating. Private burial in Poke Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Greg's memory to Light of Life Rescue Mission 665 Ridge Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
