Henry George Davidson, Jr. (101), passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at U of L South Hospital.
He was born in Pleasant View, KY on November 29, 1922 to the late Henry George Davidson and Nora Bird Davidson.
He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, retired after 35 years of teaching for JCPS having taught at Valley and Fern Creek High Schools, and was a Navy veteran having served in WWII.
He served in the European Theatre in the convoys taking supplies to Europe. He survived the German submarine attacks and was then sent to the Pacific as a radio operator on the U.S.S. Woodford.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Miles Davidson; sister, Evelyn Tuggle (Jim); nieces, Mary Sue, Sandra; and nephew, Jimmy.
He is survived by his daughter, Catherine Duncanson (Donald); numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church 5915 Outer Loop with entombment to follow at Evergreen Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home 3800 Bardstown Road.
Memorial gifts may be made to American Legion Shawnee Post #193 or Hosparus.
