Herbert Henry Wiegand, 85, of New Athens, IL, born May 8, 1938 in Belleville, IL, passed away on Friday January 5, 2023 in New Athens, IL. He was a furnace operator at Autocrat Corporation and a laborer at the grain elevator in New Athens, IL. Mr. Wiegand was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens.
Preceding him in death were his parents – George M. and Alma K (Koerber) Wiegand, his beloved wife – Phyllis (Kratz) Wiegand, whom he married on June 6, 1970, and who preceded him on August 11, 2008 and 1 brother – Roland (the late Bonnie) Wiegand.
He is survived by his 3 children – Sherry (Russ) Main of Punta Gorda, FL, Jeffrey Thornton of Lebanon, IL and Lisa (Steve Darner) Wiegand of New Athens, IL, 1 brother – Willard (Bertie) Wiegand of Waterloo, IL, 3 grandchildren – Ryan Phillips, Tyler (Kasey) Womack and Kalyn Wiegand and 2 gr. grandchildren – Audrina Womack and Adam Womack.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday January 11, 2024 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL
