Jack “Bad Jack” Leisure of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on October 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 12, 1957, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Samuel and Dorothy Leisure.

Jack grew up in Anderson, where he became well known for his big heart, playful sense of humor, and happy spirit. He was always smiling, always joking, and rarely ever mad—unless he was watching racing on TV, where you might catch him yelling at the screen.

Racing wasn’t just a hobby for Jack—it was a lifelong passion. He spent years behind the wheel at Anderson Speedway, racing right up until the time of his injury, which happened doing what he loved, at the track, in his racing suit. Even after becoming homebound, his love for racing never faded. He continued to cheer (and sometimes shout) while watching from home.

Jack enjoyed the simple things in life—playing a good game of Trouble (because he is trouble), spending time with family (especially at his daughter’s cookouts), and being surrounded by company. He loved his great-grandkids and looked forward to seeing their pictures and videos. Every morning, Jack shared a routine with his parakeet, Pretty Bird—his little companion who waited faithfully for him to sit in his chair so Jack could run his finger back and forth just to stir him up.

He was deeply loved by everyone who knew him.

Jack is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Leisure; children Anita (Tim) Marvell, Jack Jr. Leisure (Leila Castor), and Jeff Fields, who was like a son; grandchildren Cassie, Marcie, Miranda, Stormy, and Brandon; great-grandchildren Renlie, Griffyn, Rainy, Bella, and Korbin; and siblings Cathy Leisure and Danny Leisure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Dorothy Leisure, and siblings William (Bill) Leisure, Lisa Leisure, and Sammy Leisure.

Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services is honored to care for Jack and his family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 504 W. 9th St. Anderson, Indiana 46016.

Jack leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and good stories that will keep his family smiling for years to come. If you knew Jack, you know he’d want everyone to keep loving and maybe stir up just a little Trouble in his honor.
