James Moore, a beloved husband, father, mentor, and friend, was called home by God on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 75. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. James was a 1968 graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School, where he excelled as a tight end for the Bulldogs. He continued his studies at McNeese State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. While at McNeese, he became the school’s first Division I All-American and was inducted into the McNeese Football Hall of Fame in 1988. James later obtained his Master’s Degree in Education from Xavier University of Louisiana. He was employed for over 45 years as a teacher, coach, and mentor in Orleans and St. Bernard Parish Schools. James married the love of his life, Shaundra Davis, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and adventure. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan, who also enjoyed cigars and spending time with his grandchildren. James was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and President of New Orleans Titian Social Aid & Pleasure Club. Beloved husband for over 12 blissful years to Shaundra Davis Moore. Devoted father of Shana Moore Jackson, Jennifer Moore (Gary) Phillips, and Ariel Moore. Bonus father of Chad Williams, Jonathan (Kendra) Williams, and Gregory Dawson. Son of the late Junius Son Moore and Leontine Solomon. Brother of the late Luella Bullette, Warren and Junius Moore. Also cherishing his memories are a host of grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of City of Love, Fairview Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Titans Social Aid & Pleasure Club; faculty, staff and students of NOLA Public Schools, Einstein Charter Schools, and all affiliated Charter Schools of Orleans Parish are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at City Of Love, 8601 Palmetto Street, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00a.m. Bishop Lester Love, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, Metairie, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
