James Baird "Jimmy" Parsons, 75, lifelong resident of Bald Knob, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home. Jimmy was born November 24, 1948 in Bald Knob to the late Gene Baird and Clara Irene (Robinson) Parsons. He was a 1966 graduate of Bald Knob High School and soon after was drafted to serve in the United States Army during Vietnam where he was a helicopter mechanic. Jimmy was a hard worker his entire life, helping his dad from a very early age. He learned to operate heavy equipment and enjoyed a successful career that spanned 60 years. Mr. Parsons was fair and honest in his profession and often helped those in need by providing his services at no charge. Jimmy spent several years as an operator for Southern Pipeline as well. He was content living a simple life and loved to reminisce on old times, history of the old families of the Bald Knob area and enjoyed the many connections and friendships he developed over the years.
He was a collector of "all" things and anyone who ever visited him at his shop could see many of his collectables on display. He was an avid wood worker and enjoyed mowing and tending to his place.
Jimmy will be missed by his family and the entire community.
He is survived by his 2 children, Savannah Parsons and Stuart Parsons; his grandson, Devyn Parsons; a sister, Glenda Downs and his dog and companion, Bozo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcelle "Marcie" Parsons; and sisters, Sherry Feagin, Carol Carter and Brenda Feagin.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with cremation following.
