James Edward "Jim" Pell, lovingly known as "Big Jim", 68 of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home. Born on November 2, 1956 in Florida. Jim grew up in the close-knit community of Samsula, Florida, where he attended local grade school and junior high. He was one of seven children, and shared a deep, lifelong bond with his identical twin brother, Eugene.
Jim spent his career as a skilled professional painter and commercial waterproofer- he took pride in his work, and where he built a reputation for hard work and integrity.
In 1978, Jim married Lori Marsh, and together they welcomed a son, James "Jimmy" Pell II. Later in life, Jim married Missy Richards in 1991, and they were blessed with a second son, Raymond Pell. A devoted father and proud grandfather, Jim found his greatest joy in his family.
Recently retired, Jim embraced his role as "Papa Pell," relishing time with his grandchildren and family. It was, without a doubt, his favorite chapter yet.
Jim had a passion for classic cars and Harley-Davidsons. A free spirit with a kind heart, Jim's presence lit up a room, and his stories were as colorful as the custom bikes he admired. Whenever you hear the roar of a Harley, know that he's riding free-wind on his face, peace in his soul.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. He will never be far from those who loved him.
He is survived by his son Jimmy (Holly Pell, and their three children, Lydia, Millie, and Waylon), son Raymond (daughter Penelope, whom he adored); siblings Linda Gay Wiggins (Lester, Kevin and Ginger), Wade (Duke and John), Debbie Wiggins (Melissa), Eugene (Tina, Wessly and Ryan), Karen Peeples (Jesse, Tonya and Jolene). Preceded in death by his parents Raymond Lloyd and Robbie Louise Pell; sister, Robin Brown (Stephanie and Victoria); and brother-in-law's Ronnie Brown and Ray Wiggins.
A family hosted Celebration of Life will be held August 3, 2025 1pm at the SNPJ Lodge 421 N. Samsula Drive, New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32168.
