James D. Sandberg, 90, of Evansville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
Jim was born in Granville, Illinois on October 31, 1934 to Hans and Charlotte (Wicksten) Sandberg. He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Always strong-willed and hard-working, Jim pursued multiple avenues of work from being a chemist to owning his own trucking business. He loved the theatre and often remembered his days working with the Peoria Illinois Players. Jim enjoyed gardening, especially fruit trees and bushes. Anyone who knew Jim will remember his unique sense of humor; he was always ready to laugh, even in the midst of difficult situations. Jim loved God and studied his Bible avidly; he thrived on talking theology to anyone who would engage with him. He adored Cindy, his wife of 54 years, and his children and grandchildren. Jim worked very hard to be as involved in their lives as possible.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Cynthia "Cindy" (Williamson) Sandberg of Evansville, IN; children, Jennifer Cunningham (Michael), Ann Sandberg, Sarah Sandberg, and James "Jay" Sandberg all of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Alice "Becky" Williamson; and grandchildren, Madeleine Luna (Erick), Charlotte Cunningham, and Daniel Cunningham.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ligonier Ministries, 421 Ligonier Ct., Sanford, FL 32771.

Cindy and family, so sorry for your loss. I didn´t work at Sandberg Trucking very long but long enough to see he was a hard worker and go getter! Your whole family always treated me with so much kindness! You´re in my thoughts and prayers. RIP and fly high.
