Janet Larrimer Obituary
Janet Mary Geister Larrimer passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 26. Janet was born on May 20, 1931, in Cleveland, OH to Isabel and William Geister. She was raised in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. From an early age, she had an interest in radio and theater. She received an award for her high school radio show "Teenage High Jinx" and performed in amateur theater at the Weathervane Theater in Akron, where she met her future husband, Thomas Larrimer. Janet attended Catholic University, where she developed a lifelong interest in Washington, DC. and politics. She transferred back to The Ohio State University where she graduated and then married Thomas Larrimer in 1952. Janet and Tom were married for 48 years until Tom passed away in 2000. There were seven Larrimer children. In addition to Tom, Janet was predeceased by four of her children: Cathy (1975), Gregg (1980), Laura (2010), and David (2023). She is survived by three daughters, Gretchen Larrimer, Karen Warner (David), and Jennifer Thomas, as well as five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Janet's family meant everything to her. She was loving, patient, and kind to everyone who knew her. Janet had many friends in the community both Columbus, Ohio and Oliver Lake, Indiana. She enjoyed visiting with people and hearing about their families and activities. She was a devout member of St. Agatha and, later, Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church. She was an avid bridge player and loved the game and her bridge club members. Janet followed current events closely and was a fan of WOSU radio and television. Janet was a loyal Buckeye fan and loved OSU football and basketball.
A Mass in Janet's memory will be held on Wednesday, December 6th at Our Lady of Peace at 10:30 and Visitation with her family from 9:30-10:30 also at Our Lady of Peace...
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Janet's memory may be made to Ohio Health Hospice or to WOSU radio/television.
