Janet Marie Pruitt was born on April 26, 1960, in Dublin, Maryland, to the late Shirley and Tom Pruitt. Janet went to the Lord on July 8, 2023, making her stay on this earth 63 years, 2 months and 12 days. She fought a more than courageous battle with cancer and at her passing she was surrounded by close friends.
Janet was a loving sister and loved by her sister, Debbie (Richard) Hawkins of Churchville, MD; brother Charlie (Jessie) Pruitt of Valley Forge Place, MD; 6 nieces and nephews, Jason, Benjamin, Jaime, Jake, Dayna and Matthew; and special friend Jan Solie of Augusta, WI. Janet held a special place in her heart for her Aunt Bernice (BEE) Krouse of Aberdeen, MD.
Janet graduated from Harford High School in Maryland in 1978. Janet loved working with the elderly and those with special needs and was employed mostly in the medical field. After moving to Eau Claire, WI, she was employed by Our House Memory Care and Mayo Hospital both in Eau Claire and Palmer Place in Augusta.
She was very artistic and in 2017 she pursued the art of woodcarving. She would find a root, log or tree branch and was able to visualize and carve them into unbelievable artistic pieces.
Her other passions were music and fishing. Many time she said "open the live well Jan." She also loved to look for pretty stones which she embedded into her woodcarvings. Janet's favorite place to look for rocks was in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Lake Superior.
She lived an adventurous life, living in Maryland, Louisiana and Wisconsin and eventually Augusta, WI. She traveled the eastern states, the southern states and also California and Mexico.
Janet is truly missed by her family and friends. She will have a private service with some of her ashes being spread in the Augusta area and the remaining being returned to Maryland.
Throughout her year long battle with cancer, Janet was helped by some amazing individuals that need to be thanked. The doctors and staff in Eau Claire with the Marshfield Hospital and Cancer Center. The staff of the Augusta Health and Rehabilitation. The emergency medical team with the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Department and to the wonderful nurses and additional staff with St. Joseph's Hospice.
All the efforts of each and every one of you will never be forgotten. Also again, the support of Janet's friends meant the world to her. Thank you all.
