Janice Markham, 79, of Cadillac, Mi. peacefully passed on into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2024. Janice was a loving wife of 56 years to her late husband Glen, beloved mother, and grandmother. She was born on October 25, 1945, in Otsego, MI. She graduated from Berkley High School and went on to receive her Master of Education from Eastern Michigan University. Janice stated several times that she loved being a teacher so much, that she never worked a day in her life. She spent most of her 30-year career shaping young minds at J.A. Lanigan Elementary School in Farmington, MI. She put on many plays, created costumes, and developed art projects that engaged her students' learning.
Janice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac. She had a beautiful singing voice. Janice sang in the church choir during her earlier years, went on to national singing competitions with Sweet Adelines, and put on many shows at the Palm Resaca Park in Brownsville, Texas in her later years. She was very spirited and outgoing. Janice loved and prioritized her family above all. She was thoughtful and spent time organizing school supplies and Christmas presents for children in need. She had a special way of sending little notes and meaningful gifts that let everyone know that she cared. Janice loved traveling with her husband. Together they visited all 50 states, several places in Europe, and went on extensive camping trips. Janice loved life. She laughed a lot and would often break out in song and dance! Janice had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. She let us know often that she wasn't in a hurry but couldn't wait go to heaven. We will miss her here on earth.
Janice is survived by her children Rebecca Markham and Stephen Markham (Alia), grandchildren: Yazan, Suzanne, Ashraf, and Mohammad. She is also survived by her sister Susan Cunningham, sister-in-law Gail Fisher and beloved relatives and friends. Janice was preceded in death by her husband Glen Markham, parents Mildred and Glenn Fisher, brother Rodney Fisher, and sister Pat Yettaw.
Visitation will be held at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 E. Eleven Mile Rd. (4 blocks east of Woodward, Royal Oak on Saturday December 21st 11:00am until the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, MI.
