Janis Ann Gamez, born on June 13, 1961, at a U.S. Air Force Base inangdalem, Germany, passed away on December 2, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. From her earliest moments, Janis was destined to touch many lives, sharing the world alongside her twin brother, Dennis, lovingly known as "Twinnie."
Janis dedicated a significant part of her life to her career, working for esteemed glass companies including Safelight and Pilkington. Her commitment to her profession mirrored the dedication she showed in all aspects of her life full of passion, determination, and an unwavering spirit.
As we reflect upon Janis’s life, it is clear she was a radiant presence, beloved by so many. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. A graduate of Sunnyside High School in Tucson, Arizona, Janis cultivated enduring friendships and cherished relationships throughout her journey.
Janis is survived by her loving children, Garret and Samantha Gamez, and her devoted husband, Phillip Gamez. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Theresa Cuestes, and her brothers, Merle, Dennis, Joe, and Michael Papuyo. The joy of her life, her granddaughter Audie Gamez, will carry forward Janis’s legacy of love and family.
Janis was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Esquipula Papuyo and Maria Guadalupe, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
In celebration of her life, loved ones are invited to join in a series of visitations at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson on December 21, 2024. The visitation will take place from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM with a Rosary at 9:30 AM. Mass will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mission San Xavier Del Bac.
Though Janis has left this earthly realm, the love she shared will resonate through the hearts of all she touched. She will be remembered fondly, missed forever, and her spirit will live on in the memories of her family and friends.
